As I see it, the source of her writing must have been all the material that had been provided by Boulder Police to the members of their legal advisory team, one of them being Bonita’s boss, and since in my opinion, Boulder Police were heavily involved in the coverup of the murder, it is only to be expected that the material they had supplied to their legal team was heavily weighted with any evidence that could possibly be construed as making one of the Ramseys look guilty. I myself I find them to have a ring of authenticity about them as they appear to have been written by a well-educated person, which Bonita Sauer would have been. He inserted himself in the case by strongly promoting a ‘Burke did It’ theory, which in my opinion, was calculated to draw attention away from those who he knew actually were involved in the murder and who he was helping to protectīecause of their source and the fact that it was Spade who made them public, many people do not trust ‘The Bonita Papers’ as being what he purported them to be. Spade was identified as Richard Talfryn Jones who, it was later discovered, had relatives and connections to people associated with the crime. The story also goes that the notes she had written up came to be stolen by a nephew of hers and from him somehow a poster by the name of Spade got hold of them and posted them on Forums for Justice. The story that circulated along with them was that Sauer thought she might one day write a book about the case and so kept her own notes from all the documents she had been given access to during her time in the Hoffman offices. When the notes appeared on one of the forums in 2004 Spade said Bonita wrote her material up in 1999 it would seem likely that this would have been after the grand jury disbanded in October 1999. Many police files would have come into Hoffman's office from around August 1997 when he was first appointed.
